SOUTH BEND -- A 47-year-old South Bend man lost control of his pick-up truck Tuesday afternoon on Ardmore Trail, west of South Bend, hitting two trees before spinning into the road’s shoulder. Eric Parker apparently crawled out the window of his truck after the accident and laid down in the snow until medics arrived. He complained of back pain but did not sustain serious injuries, according to St. Joseph County police, who responded to the scene. Parker told police he had been wearing a seat belt. He said he lost control on the snow-covered road. The red truck was totaled, police said. Officials have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
