NILES — We all have to change the way we drive when there is snow on the roads. Some people are taking it one step further ‒ by buying a new vehicle. Tyler Hummer, in Niles, reports Hummer sales are up in the past week. The dealership sold four utility vehicles in just a couple of days. “If you drive one, you'll want to buy one,” said Andrew Ballard, Hummer product manager. He said people recognize how important it is to have a safe vehicle for winter that offers great traction. Ballard said Hummers handle well in winter weather, and that is driving them right off the lot. “The hummer has almost 10 inches of ground clearance ‒ which is more than most SUVs ‒ a more advanced 4-wheel drive system, and basically it’s just overbuilt for off-road driving and winter weather driving,” he explained. Ballard says the people coming in to buy are of all age ranges and backgrounds. Sales and rebates are helping customers afford new models, but others are also buying pre-owned vehicles at a cheaper price.
