MISHAWAKA — The intersection of Main Street and Day Road probably will be closed until mid- to late morning Thursday. Assistant street commissioner Tim Ryan said in the best of all worlds the intersection would be open by 7 a.m. But he suggested motorists avoid it for their morning commute just in case. A 12-inch water main broke early today and police found water bubbling up shortly before 6 a.m. Water department manager Bruno Trimboli said crews were able to isolate the break while keeping water going to all customers. The pipe was fixed this morning, but the hole still had to filled. Ryan said it takes 10 to 12 hours for concrete to cure.
