Mishawaka intersection partially reopened Thursday morning

MISHAWAKA — Southbound traffic is open on Main Street at its intersection with Day Road late Thursday morning. East-west traffic on Day Road remains restricted. A Mishawaka official had said that he expected the intersection would be open by 7 a.m. As of 10:45 a.m., it was partially open. A 12-inch water main broke early Wednesday and police found water bubbling up shortly before 6 a.m. Water department manager Bruno Trimboli said crews were able to isolate the break while keeping water going to all customers. The pipe was fixed Wednesday morning, but the hole still had to filled. Ryan said it takes 10 to 12 hours for concrete to cure.
