MISHAWAKA — A 15-year-old Mishawaka girl was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center, suspected of assaulting a police officer after an incident Thursday at Mishawaka High School. Police said the 15-year-old was asked to sit down and be quiet several times because she was dancing in the aisle between tables in the cafeteria. When she wouldn’t do as she was asked, Cpl. Jeffrey Giannuzzi, the school resource officer, asked her to go to the pupil services office about 1:15 p.m. According to the police report, the teenager yelled obscenities and resisted Giannuzzi, including kicking him in the leg. She was taken to the police department and then the JJC, according to the report.
