Republican Fox joins sheriff’s race

SOUTH BEND — James Fox, a deputy prosecuting attorney in Elkhart County, announced Monday he plans to run for St. Joseph County sheriff. A Republican, he joins Randy Peppers, a county police patrolman, and Keith E. Rininger, director of inmate services and programs for the department, in seeking his party’s nomination for the seat. Fox formerly served as a firefighter, paramedic and police officer in St. Joseph County, and also as a deputy prosecutor, according to a news release. He holds a bachelor’s degree in arts from DePaul University, and received his law degree in 2001 from Valparaiso University School of Law. The County primary election is May 4.
