South Bend firefighters extinguish Kentucky Street basement blaze

SOUTH BEND — Firefighters put out a fire Saturday night in the basement of an unoccupied house at 703 S. Kentucky St. According to a South Bend Fire Department report, the fire was reported about 7:40 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from attic vents. The fire was found in the basement and was under control in about 10 minutes, according to the report.
