Firefighters from numerous area departments battled a house fire that began late Saturday night near Chamberlain Lake in St. Joseph County. The Warren Twp. Fire Department said the fire broke out in the 57000 block of Poppy Road, to the southwest of South Bend and near the lake off Crumstown Highway. Several people called 911 to report seeing smoke and flames in the area of Fawn Ridge Court just before 11 p.m. Firefighters were at the scene for nearly four hours. There were no immediate reports of injuries, fire crews said. Warren Fire officials said Sunday that the fire remains under investigation.
