One person was taken to the hospital early Wednesday after he was injured by what police say was an exploding meth pot. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department went to a home in the 1000 block of Evans Street to follow up on a tip about meth production at the home. But when they arrived, a man tried to escape out the back door — and when he did, a meth pot exploded in his hands and burned him in the process. That’s when they called city fire and EMS personnel, who came to assist shortly after 11 p.m. Three people, including the injured man, are in custody following the meth explosion, the sheriff’s department told WSBT News. Police say a window was broken at the back of the house, but there was no other significant damage. Indiana State Police teams were called to assist with the cleanup.
