Woman found dead in Rochester apartment

Police say a Rochester woman has been found dead in her home Monday, and now they are investigating a case of foul play. Det. Matt Campbell said officers were sent to Arbor Woods Apartments after a call from the manager, who asked them to check on the welfare of residents in one of the units. That’s where they found the deceased woman, who has not yet been identified. The prosecutor has said only the woman is considered a victim. Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy before commenting on how she died. But witnesses told police they heard what sounded like a fight Monday morning, and neighbors have told WSBT News the woman’s grandmother found her in the home and she may have been beaten to death. The woman also had a son who is being cared for, police said. Police say they are looking for a suspect but have declined to comment on that suspect.
