Heartland RV announces new jobs plan

There was some good news Monday for the unemployed in Elkhart -- Heartland RV announced it will create up to 265 jobs by 2013. It’s part of a company expansion that will see Heartland spend more than $2.6 million to buy a new manufacturing facility. The company purchased Fleetwood Enterprises in February, and Heartland says the new workers are necessary as it begins to phase in new product lines. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is giving the company nearly $900,000 in performance based tax credits. The City of Elkhart is expected to give the company an additional property tax abatement.
