An elderly Benton Harbor woman is in the hospital following an apartment fire on the city's east side on Friday night. Fire crews were called to the Cogic Village Apartments just around 7:30, after residents reported smelling smoke. The building sustained at least $350,000 in fire damage, and two units are destroyed. A 70-year-old woman on oxygen was taken to the hospital after breathing in too much smoke, but fire crews say she is expected to be OK. Several displaced residents are now being cared for by the Red Cross. Investigators are still searching for a cause.
