LaPorte County---Five years ago on April 11, the city of LaPorte was hit hard by the news that local businessman Jeff Ake was abducted in Iraq. Ake, the father of four, went missing while installing a bottled water plant. And the city never forgot. Dave Dlesk, a classmate of Ake’s in both high school and college, follows Jeff’s story closely and keeps in touch with the family. “They keep moving forward, doing what they need to do,” Dlesk told WSBT. “You know, while keeping the hope alive that Jeff will someday return. I think was we look at the fifth anniversary here, it gets harder and harder to see a possible favorable outcome.” Lily Ake, Jeff’s wife, said the family is extremely grateful for the support, prayers and help they’ve received. Sadly, there is still no word from Jeff — but the kindness of family, friends and many strangers has helped the Akes. Dlesk said a Jeff Ake Family Trust has been established to assist the family. Check the Web site for more on how to help.
