Police make arrest in connection to Elkhart County vehicle fires

ELKHART COUNTY -  Officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigating a series of Sunday morning vehicle fires. But one Elkhart man has been arrested on a preliminary charge of possessing property that was reported missing from one of the burned vehicles.

Police spotted 24-year-old James Frink shortly after 1 a.m. in the area of Diamond Drive and County Road 15.

After speaking with the officer, it was discovered Frink was carrying electronic equipment and jewelry. Police also recovered a cell phone and other items reported missing from one of the burned vehicles.

The fires were reported after midnight Sunday from: the 23900 block of County Road 16, 24100 block of County Road 16, 56500 block of Diamond Drive, and the 56900 block of Raider Drive.

Officers collected the evidence and are investigating this case.
