Three LaPorte County Jail officers have been fired on allegations of misconduct.
They also could face criminal charges pending a review by the LaPorte County prosecutor's office depending on findings from an internal investigation.
''The prosecutor’s office has been consulted, and results of the investigation are being forwarded for consideration of criminal charges,'' said LaPorte County Sheriff Mike Mollenhauer.
Mollenhauer would not disclose the nature of the allegations or release the names of the officers terminated Saturday.
''At this time it's a personnel matter, and it's been handled,'' Mollenhauer said.
Mollenhauer did reveal that all three of the former employees were veteran jail officers.
''The investigation was painstaking and thorough," he said. "We take this type of situation very seriously."
