Rose, a black lab so named for the Mishawaka park where she was found abandoned and abused, is getting plenty of TLC at Pet Refuge. When Pet Refuge staffers first saw Rose, they called her one of the worst cases of animal neglect they’d seen.
WSBT-TV brought Rose’s story to you earlier this month.
Rose should weigh about 50 pounds, but only weighs 25 pounds, a partial testimony to the abuse she suffered. When found, she hobbled because her overgrown toenails made walking so painful.
Since her arrival at Pet Refuge, Kryder Veterinary Clinic in Granger gave Rose a complete check-up. She’s being given medication and her health status will be re-evaluated in a few weeks, Pet Refuge posted on its Facebook page.
Rose is eating again, for which shelter staffers are happy.
Tonight, raffle proceeds at a Pet Refuge fundraiser will be donated to Rose’s medical care and to a sick kitty the shelter recently received.
