A South Bend woman who was injured in an Oct. 9 car accident on U.S. 20 has died.
Police said Katrina Carter, 22, died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash in front of 28070 U.S. 20 in western St. Joseph County.
Police said Carter's Ford Explorer went off the road and into a farm field about 10:45 p.m., police said. The reason for the crash is not known, but Carter's vehicle struck a mailbox then rolled several times into a farm field.
Carter was ejected from the vehicle and suffered several head injuries; she was taken to Memorial Hospital by MedFlight and remained there until her death, police said.
