Many stores open for business on Thanksgiving

Major chains in our area were open for business on Thanksgiving, giving shoppers a head start on savings.

Shoppers didn't have wait until Friday for the best bargains. It was easy to find people who went to the store for a few last-minute items for dinner walking out with TVs, Blu-rays, toys and buy one, get one free bargains.

Area shoppers had plenty of options to choose from. K-Mart opened their doors at 6 a.m. Old Navy was the only store open at this Mishawaka plaza.

Walmart and Meijer were the two super centers open for business Thursday. Both stores offered Thanksgiving Day specials on electronics, shoes and toys.

Shoppers WSBT talked to said bargains on Thursday will help them avoid the craziness on Friday.

For the first time ever, Sears opened their doors from 7 a.m. until noon.  And Toys R Us will open at 10 p.m., joining several area restaurants along Grape Road hoping to entice bargain hunters.

Plus, If you are an online shopper, more than a dozen online retailers are offering Thanksgiving Day specials.
