Te'o, Ruffer named all-americans

December 15, 2010|By Pete Byrne (pmbyrne@wsbt.com)

A pair of Irish football players have nabbed all-american honors.

Sophomore Manti Te'o and senior David Ruffer have been named SECOND TEAM all-americans by Sports Illustrated.

Te'o has 127 total tackles this season, forty one more than Harrison Smith who has the second highest total on the team.

More than half of those tackles...were unassisted.

Ruffer has made every field goal he's tried this year, a perfect 15-15.

He's the only player in the country that can say that!  He's also perfect for his career in field goal attempts (20-20).

Other players to be honored by Sports Illustrated include Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan & Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones.

Both are 1st team all-americans.
