Two Kosciusko County teenagers ran through the woods, over a frozen lake, and into a church camp before finding hiding places Wednesday afternoon, police said in a news release. Both boys were arrested later in the day, police said.
Indiana State Police received a call just before 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon of a burglary in progress at a residence on Nelson Driver near Wabee Lake in the Milford area.
When officers arrived on scene, they saw the two suspects running from the house.
According to the press release, the following happened:
A 13-minute pursuit followed with the teens crossing the frozen Wabee Lake and then entering Camp Alexander Mack, police said.
One teen, a 17-year-old Syracuse resident, was found hiding in a trash pile. Police obtained a search warrant for the home of other suspect, a 16-year-old from Milford and found him there.
Police recovered several items from the Milford home that they connected with other area burglaries.
Both subjects were arrested and taken to Pierceton Woods Academy.
