SOUTH BEND -- Staff at Indiana University South Bend are picking up the pieces after an early morning vandalism of the campus bookstore.
According to Ken Baierl with the Office of Communication and Marketing at IUSB, sometime in the early morning hours Sunday, a subject smashed a window of the campus bookstore, which is located in Northside Hall.
After the glass was broken and the subject entered the building, an alarm went off and alerted law enforcement of the break-in. Baierl says the subject was arrested on the scene.
As a result of the vandalism, the bookstore is closed Sunday. This is a cause for concern because classes resume for the spring semester Monday. However, Baierl says that staff is working to clean up the mess so that the bookstore can be open for the start of the semester Monday.
There is no word on the extent of the damage or what was taken.
