WALDPORT, Ore. (AP) — Authorities have found a dog belonging to fugitive Portland man suspected of shooting and critically wounding a Lincoln City police officer.
David Durham has been at large since Sunday when he fled on foot into a sparsely populated area on the Oregon coast after a high-speed chase with police.
The dog, named Huckleberry, was found Wednesday morning. It had an injury to its left leg.
Police say they believe that when Durham fled from officers he went in an opposite direction from the dog.
Authorities say Durham shot Lincoln City Police Officer Steven Dodds during a traffic stop on Sunday night, then sped south until his truck was stopped in Waldport.
