MIDDLEBURY — A “quick, hot fire” destroyed a private storage building and damaged two other structures in the 300 block of West Lawrence Street Thursday night in Middlebury.

Middlebury Fire Capt. Scott Dreamer told WSBT-TV he’s waiting for the Indiana Fire Marshal’s report on the fire’s cause.

Dreamer’s asking for the public’s help. Anyone with photos or video of the fire is asked to share them with the fire department. For more information, call the fire department at 825-1484 or 825-1492.

A neighbor called 911 about 6:45 p.m. Along with Middlebury firefighters, crews from Goshen, Jefferson Township and Shipshewana served as mutual aid to get the fire under control.

Personal items and vehicles, among the a large bus, were consumed by the fire. Dreamer said intense heat from the fire damaged another nearby storage building and a house just to the east of the fire scene.

No one was injured.
