Update: Plymouth toddler's condition improves after near-drowning

PLYMOUTH —

While Plymouth Police continue their investigation into the near-drowing Sunday night of a 15-month-old, the toddler's condition has been upgraded to good.

Police and emergency medical services were called to a home in the 2500 block of North Michigan Street about 8 p.m. Sunday for the child, who was found facedown in a bathtub and was not breathing.

CPR had already been started when rescuers arrived. According to a news release, a witness said the child was left alone for less than 15 seconds.

The child was taken to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, then to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where he was initially kisted in critical condition Monday afternoon.

As of Tuesday afternoon, a Memorial Hospital spokesman said the child is now listed in good condition.
