A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for entire area until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
We saw rain and freezing rain overnight creating very slick roads early Monday morning, and we'll continue to see rain, freezing rain and sleet until early afternoon.
South Bend and St. Joseph County police said there have been numerous reports of accidents on the bypass and the Indiana Toll Road.Slide-offs and crashes are happening all over our area.
At 10 a.m. Monday police were at the scene of a rollover accident at the intersection of Cleveland and Ash roads. It caused traffic tieups and motorists were asked to avoid that area.
Marshall County dispatch said U.S. 30 was very bad as of 3 p.m. And LaPorte County dispatch said there are numerous crashes and slide-offs in the western part of the county.
Around 3 p.m. Monday the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department warned that roads are becoming extremly icy and drivers should stay off the roads. Several crashes were reported on Sunday and Monday, including a fatal crash Sunday morning on County Road 35 south of State Road 4. A driver lost control, veered off the road and hit a tree.
