TOKYO (AP) — A Sony music unit has apologized for a rock band under its management that dressed up like Nazis on a national TV broadcast.
Sony Music Artists Inc. issued a statement Wednesday saying it regretted the incident.
The band "Kishidan" appeared on an MTV Networks Japan show a week ago in black uniforms resembling those of Nazi soldiers, with distinctive red arm bands and epaulets.
On Monday, Jewish rights organization the Simon Wiesenthal Center expressed "shock and dismay" over the uniforms.
Asia is less sensitive to the use of Nazi themes than the West. Retailers and bars have drawn similar complaints from the center in the past.
