ELKHART — As a safety precaution, a Concord Township firefighter was taken to Elkhart General Hospital early Monday morning after battling a detached garage fire on County Road 111.
Firefighters were called to the fire, in the 58000 block of C.R. 111, at 10:51 p.m. Sunday. The fire was declared under control at 10:58 p.m., according to an emergency services dispatch supervisor. An ambulance was requested at 12:07 a.m. Monday.
The firefighter was overcome by heat, a fire department spokesman said, but as of 3 a.m., he had been released from the hospital.
