LAPORTE — Re-inventing the "chicken and waffles" food tradition yielded Landon Jones a $2,500 scholarship.
Landon entered his "Re-invented Chicken 'N Waffles with PBQ Sauce" recipe in the ninth annual "Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich" contest sponsored by Jif Peanut Butter.
Mom Ann helped Landon whip up his recipe and they were guests on WSBT’s News Saturday Morning News on Jan. 15.
Online voting across the country placed Landon in the five finalists. He was in New York City over the weekend for final judging. An 8-year-old North Carolina girl won the national contest and a $25,000 scholarship. Each of the remaining four finalists received a $2,500 scholarship.
