SOUTH BEND — A Mass for the victims of the disaster in Japan is set for 5:15 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Basilica at the University of Notre Dame.
The Rev. John I. Jenkins, Notre Dame’s president, will preside and give the homily. A collection will be taken for Catholic Relief Services, which is coordinating its relief and recovery efforts with Caritas Japan.
The Notre Dame Alumni Association also will light a special green candle at the Grotto as a sign of the campus community’s prayers for all the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami
In addition, the university announced Friday it is suspending its undergraduate program in Nagonya, Japan. Two students currently are enrolled in that program.
