Police name suspect in Warsaw stabbing

April 26, 2011|By Jason Overholt (joverholt@wsbt.com)

New information has been released about a stabbing early Saturday morning on the west side of Warsaw.

Deputies and emergency personnel responded to the 1900 block of Robin Drive at 12:49 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. Deputies found Cody Joseph Thomas Slone, 18, lying in the street and bleeding profusely.

Slone was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. He was then transferred to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in critical condition.

As of Monday he was listed in stable condition.

Police say it all started when Sloan invited Michael Casey Bryant, 30, and his girlfriend to a party at a nearby house. Bryant and his girlfriend walked to the party and got into an argument with several men there, say police.

The argument spilled outside and into the street. Bryant and his girlfriend started walking home accompanied by Sloan. At some point police say Bryant slashed a 20-inch gash into Sloan’s left arm with a pocket knife, leaving him to bleed in the street as he ran.

Slone apparently had at least one severed artery as well as a muscle in his arm, hospital officials told police.
