UPDATE: Michigan man critically injured in North Liberty cycle crash

NORTH LIBERTY — An SUV driver trying to pass a semi on S.R. 23 in North Liberty Tuesday morning collided with a motorcyclist, critically injuring the man from Hartford, Mich.

St. Joseph County Police reported Janice Himes, 69, of Walkerton, was driving north in the 64400 block of S.R. 23, when she tried to pass a semi. She told police she did not see the southbound motorcycle before trying to pass the semi. Himes was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment of leg pain.

The motorcyclist, Matthew Sexton, 36, is in critical condition at Memorial, according to a nursing supervisor early Wednesday morning.
