Corn 'maze' created for drivers as truck spills load on U.S. 31

May 31, 2011|WSBT-TV Report

A truck hauling a load of corn cobs created a maze for U.S. 31 drivers Tuesday morning, after the truck flipped on its side and spilled its load as the driver was coming off the U.S. 20 Bypass exit ramp.

The mishap occured about 3 a.m. Tuesday, but the incident affected morning rush hour traffic as a clean-up crew was still working at the scene.

The truck driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, authorities told WSBT-TV Reporter Alyssa Rossomme at the scene.

The corn has since been cleaned up. The road is clear.

The truck, loaded with 40,000 pounds, was en route from Brighton, Ind. to Delphi, Ind., where the product would be used to make kitty litter, facial powder and other products.
