A Mishawaka woman was killed Wednesday in an accident in the 59300 block of County Road 1 in Elkhart County.
Police say around 2:40 p.m. 53-year-old Diane Horvath was driving southbound on County Road 1, just south of County Road 24, when her car left the roadway and struck a tree.
No one witnessed the accident, but police say an off-duty officer reported seeing Horvath's car travelling northbound on County Road 1 at a high rate of speed minutes before the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
