Some 600 water customers in the town of Bristol are no longer being advised to boil their water before drinking it.
Tim Hathaway, superintendent of the Bristol Wastewater Treatment Plant, says the state canceled the advisory.
According to Town Manager Bill Wuthrich, a valve on the town water tower failed about noon Wednesday, causing the pressure inside to drop.
While the valve has been fixed, state rules required a “boil advisory” to be issued.
A boil advisory is still in effect for Argos. It might not be lifted until Friday night or possibly Saturday morning, according to the Argos Clerk’s Office.
