Police say they used a Taser on a man who ran after they found a portable meth lab in his vehicle.
Officers responded to a crash shortly before 5 a.m. Friday morning on Syracuse/Webster Road, just north of State Road 13. The driver, 18-year-old Austin Richard Reiff of South Whitley, said he had to swerve to miss a deer and ended up in the ditch.
While Reiff was been examined by a medic, police say a deputy found a one-pot meth lab in his dash.
When the officer walked over to Reiff at the ambulance, Reiff ran and the deputy stunned him with a Taser.
After paramedics examined Reiff, he was arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement. As of Friday morning, his bond has yet to be set by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
