GOSHEN — UPDATE: As of 7:30 a.m. Friday, those injured in the crash (Emily Shields, child; Nicole Shields and Judy Roberts) have all been released from Goshen General Hospital after receiving treatment for their injuries.

An SUV crashed into an Applebee's Thursday night, sending glass and food flying across the restaurant. The driver said she's embarrassed by the accident.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at the Applebee's on 1807 Reith Blvd., just off U.S. 33.

Police and firefighters quickly flooded the restaurant in Goshen where an SUV drove into a restaurant full of people.

As the SUV's driver was attempting to park, the driver told WSBT she went for the brake, but pressed the accelerator instead. That’s when the SUV rammed into the restaurant, taking out one of the windows.

People were not asked to leave the restaurant, in fact, some even stayed to finish their dinner, but a lot of people outside were in shock.

Inside the restaurant, there was food and glass everywhere.

WSBT spoke with a family eating dinner a few feet away from where the SUV charged into the building.

"I was getting ready to order and all of a sudden there was a big bang and there was a truck in the building," said Brandon Reed.

"I don't know if something happened to her," said Stephanie Reed. "But I watched her go right over, I seen her coming and I knew there was a little girl over there and I thought she was dead."

The driver told WSBT she's from Chicago and was on her way to the lake for a holiday weekend. She just stopped at the restaurant to get a bite to eat with family.
