Long Beach police say a 17 year old beaten unconscious on the beach died two days later.
Police responding to a call Monday around 11:50 p.m. found Kevin Kennelly Jr., who police say lives in Long Beach and Chicago, unconscious and surrounded by people. He was transported to St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City, then flown to St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point because of the severity of his injuries.
Kennelly died just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of 19-year-old James K. Mallecek of Chicago. He faces charges of aggravated battery, battery and involuntary manslaughter.
