Erik Larson became part of the WSBT News team in April of 2011, although he is not new to WSBT. Erik was a summer intern at WSBT during the summer of 2010. Besides doing the weekend weather, Erik also co-anchors the Saturday Morning show.
Erik was born and raised right here in South bend, IN. He grew up in the River Park neighborhood and graduated from John Adams High School in 2006. Since then he has obtained his degree in meteorology from Purdue University, and also has a minor in communications. During that time at Purdue, Erik was captain of Purdue’s “Big Bass Drum” crew and co-anchored the Fast Track news program as a news/weather anchor.
From the minute he set foot into high school, Erik knew weather was his calling. His senior year of high school was highlighted by a meteorology class extended full year just for him. Erik’s second love is building things. He has volunteered many of times for Habitat for Humanity and plans to keep that going during his time at WSBT. He says what is most on his mind is his sister, currently finishing her tour of duty in Afghanistan.
