LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) — Ludington police say a three-week search has turned up nothing that would lead investigators to 5-month-old Katherine Shelbie-Elizabeth Phillips.
Although the search has ended, Police Chief Mark Barnett says the investigation is ongoing and leads are still coming in.
Barnett won't say whether he believes the child is dead or was given to someone else.
He tells The Muskegon Chronicle for a story Friday "both possibilities are in play."
Katherine lived with her mother, Ariel Courtland, at an apartment in Ludington, about 80 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.
Sean Phillips is believed to be the child's father. He faces a kidnapping charge and is being held in the Mason County jail.
The Ludington Daily News reports the baby last was seen in Phillips' vehicle outside the apartment in late June.
