Body of missing Fort Wayne woman found in lake

July 24, 2011

ALBION, Ind. (AP) — Authorities have begun a criminal investigation to learn how the body of a missing Fort Wayne woman turned up in a Noble County lake.

Noble County Prosecutor Steven Clouse told The Journal Gazette the circumstances surrounding the recovery of Erin Ruth Justin's body have led investigators to believe a crime was committed. He would not elaborate.

Fort Wayne police say the 36-year-old woman's fiance reported her missing June 21 after she left a motel on foot, leaving belongings behind.

Two fishermen found her body Wednesday night floating on Bartley Lake near Albion, about 25 miles northwest of Fort Wayne. The cause of death was undetermined.
