Body along road in northern Lower Peninsula IDed

BALDWIN, Mich. (AP) — Authorities in the northern Lower Peninsula have identified a body found alongside a road and say the man apparently died of a gunshot wound.

The Ludington Daily News and TV station WWTV/WWUP report the body of 31-year-old Andrew Smith of Big Rapids was found early Saturday along a road in Lake County near the boundary between Yates and Pleasant Plains townships. The death was under investigation.

The site is about 4 miles southeast of Baldwin and about 60 miles south of Traverse City.
