Pigskin Preview: Plymouth

August 04, 2011|by Pete Byrne (pmbyrne@wsbt.com)

The Plymouth football team is gonna look a lot different this year, than they have the past few seasons.

Plymouth graduated a very successful class last spring, a group that went 25-6 over the past three seasons.

The Rockies have just 7 starters back this fall.

"We had a great summer in the weight room", says Plymouth coach John Barron.  "Our conditioning was outstanding this year, probably as good as it's been since I've been here, just because we knew we didn't have a lot of kids returning."

The upper classmen who are returning are less focused on what they don't have, and more concerned with taking Plymouth football deeper in the playoffs.

"Part of being a Rockie isa lot of victories", says senior C/L:B Danny Stephenson.  "It seems every year we have a good season and don't make it far enough into the sectionals."

"It's time to change things and hopefully go a little further."
