Police say a Berrien County mother put her baby in a crib she knew was broken. Now she is pleading no contest in the death of her 10-month-old son.
Angel Hedtke, 32, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and second degree child abuse for the death of her son Ashton. He died in January.
Police say the baby died of suffocation after he was found hanging by his neck from his crib. They say Hedtke knew the crib was missing pieces.
In exchange for her plea, the involuntary manslaughter charge was dropped. She will be sentenced in October and faces up to four years in prison.
