JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A soldier from New York faces sexual misconduct charges for allegedly having sex with and impregnating a 14-year-old southern Indiana girl.
The News and Tribune of Jeffersonville reports (http://bit.ly/oqCfjT ) that 22-year-old Zackary Hartman of Watertown, N.Y., has been charged with two felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Court documents state that Hartman and the girl met through Facebook and he allegedly had sex with her in April after traveling to Jeffersonville. The girl recently told a child-welfare case manager she was four months pregnant and the father was a U.S. Army soldier.
Clark County Deputy Prosecutor Brittany Blau told WLKY-TV in Louisville, Ky., that Hartman confessed to military investigators and was arrested Thursday in New York. He remains jailed there on $200,000 bond pending extradition to Indiana.
