13 arrested in Goshen party bust

October 29, 2011|WSBT-TV Report

GOSHEN – Police say they arrested 13 people Saturday morning who were partying in a business in the 1800 block of Century Drive.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 4:30 a.m. on a report of a possible burglary. Police say they found two men under the age of 21 drinking alcohol outside the business.

A third man who saw the officers coming ran inside and locked the door, say police. The officers could see people inside running and trying to hide.

The keyholder of the business arrived to let the officers in. Police say they called for the people inside to come out of hiding, but they refused. The officers ended up arresting eleven people who were hiding in the building, in addition to the two outside, for various charges including resisting arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, illegal consumption of alcohol and possession of marijuana.

All but one person -- a juvenile who was released to parents -- were booked into Elkhart County Jail.
