One killed in St. Joseph County shooting

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY – Early Sunday morning, police responded to a shooting in St. Joseph County leaving one dead.

According to Sergeant William Redman, a man was shot in the 13000 block of Chippewa Blvd around 1:37 a.m. He says police found the man inside a vehicle dead.

Police were able to track down the suspect, says Redman, by setting up a perimeter around the area after witnesses gave police a description of the person. The St. Joseph County K-9 was able to catch the suspect and help police bring him into custody.

Metro homicide was at the scene and took the suspect and witnesses in for questioning.
