ST. JOSEPH COUNTY – Police have released the name of a South Bend man they arrested for murder after a deadly shooting early Sunday morning in St. Joseph County.
According to Sergeant William Redman, a man was shot in the 13000 block of Chippewa Blvd around 1:37 a.m. He says police found the man inside a vehicle, dead.
Redman says police were able to track down the suspect, 24-year-old Torrence Belcher, by setting up a perimeter around the area after witnesses gave police his description. AnSt. Joseph County K-9 unit was able to help catch Belcher.
Police have yet to release the name of the victim. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
