MISHAWAKA – A meeting Tuesday night could be an important step towards bringing more jobs to the AM General plant.
Last week WSBT said a central Indiana company, Bright Automotive, announced a partnership with AM General to build a plug-in hybrid work truck at the former Hummer 2 plant.
But this proposal also involves tax dollars.
A public hearing will be held Tuesday night to discuss tax abatement requests.
The meeting starts at 5:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of the County-City building in downtown South Bend.
The vice president of the company says their plan is to bring 300 jobs to St. Joseph County by 2013.
They are still waiting on millions of dollars in loans from the Department of Energy to start production; money that is not guaranteed.
