Syracuse officer quits after sex allegations

November 03, 2011|WSBT-TV Report

SYRACUSE – A Syracuse police officer has resigned following allegations that he engaged in consensual sexual conduct with a woman while on duty.

Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello confirms that the accused officer turned in his resignation on Wednesday, just as an investigation was beginning into the allegations.

Because of that, the chief says no charges will be brought and no departmental discipline will be needed.

At full strength, Ciriello says the town of Syracuse has 9 full time police officers and 7 reserve officers.
