Safety hazards shut down Palisades

December 01, 2011

COVERS, MI – The Feds now say a week long shutdown at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in September was caused by workers and supervisors not following proper safety procedures.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission released its preliminary report this week. The NRC says two pieces of metal inside a breaker panel touched causing a short circuit.

A Palisades spokesman told local newspapers plant officials are taking action based on the report's recommendations.
